What can I do about the bones in my lower jaw, under my tongue? No pain involved.

ANSWER:

These are called mandibular tori and they are just a normal overgrowth of normal bone. In fact I have them myself. They may be in response to clenching and grinding, and you do not need to have then removed. If they bother you, you can see a <a href="https://aad.nicktodisco.com/encyclopedia/periodontist/" target="_self" title="A dentist who has completed a two or three year residency in Periodontics after dental school. It is a simple surgical procedure with minimal <a href="https://aad.nicktodisco.com/encyclopedia/post/" target="_self" title="A metal or composite rod which is inserted into a tooth following a root canal. Let me know if you would like me to try to find you a qualified surgeon in your area.

QUESTION:

There is swelling on the upper right inside of my gum. What is that?

ANSWER:

A swelling in the roof of your mouth could be anything from a normal overgrowth of bone to an infected tooth to some type of tumor. I recommend you see a dentist as soon as possible to have it evaluated and treated if need be before it becomes painful or results in loss of the tooth or spreads if it is some type of tumor. I have a friend in the Baltimore area by the name of Tom Daley. I suggest you call his office and set up a consultation to determine if the area requires treatment or not. His number is 410-321-9607. His address is 521 E Joppa RD suite 200 Towson, MD 21286.

Hope this helps.
