Sinus
Air filled spaces in the bones of the head which are lined with a very thin layer of skin which function to filter out debris we inhale and to make our skull lighter.
Sinus Graft
Also known as: Sinus Elevation, Sinus Augmentation, Sinus Lift, Osteotome Sinus Lift, and Internal Sinus Lift. It is the addition of bone graft material between the skin lining the maxillary sinus and the boney walls of the maxillary sinus to create sufficient bone volume for the placement of a dental implant.
Socket Preservation
Also known as a socket graft or a ridge preservation graft. It is the placement of bone graft material into a fresh extraction socket to speed it healing and prevent loss of bone volume as the socket heals.
Socket(s)
The hole in the jawbone that the tooth sits inside. An Extraction socket is the hole in the jawbone that remains after a tooth is removed.
Soft Tissue Graft
A catch all term for any transplant of soft tissue from one area of the mouth to another, or the transplant of donated soft tissue into a deficient area in the mouth.

See stock abutment.
Southern Implants
A brand of dental implants from South Africa that are designed for placement into molar sites. The are extra wide in order to fill the large molar extraction sockets and are shorter than traditionally sized implants to help avoid the sinus and nerves that are located apical to the molar tooth roots.
Splint/Splinting
