A directional term which denotes the direction or surface which faces the cheeks or lip.
False Tooth
Any tooth which is not a natural tooth.

Another term for Wilkodontics or periodontally assisted osteogenic orthodontics.
Ferrule
The remaining portion of natural tooth that is retained to help support a prosthetic crown on a tooth which has had root canal and a post and core.
Filling
An artificial material which is used to replace the tooth structure which has been destroyed by a cavity. They may be made out of gold, amalgam, resin. composite, or ceramics
Fistula
: It is an abnormal passage or connection between two internal organs or spaces. In dentistry it is often used to describe the exit point from a source of infection. It is an epithelium lined tube through which pus drains from an area of infection.
Fixed Bridge
See Bridge or fixed denture.
Fixed Denture
Is a restoration which replaces the missing teeth and is not intended to be removed. It may be a partial or a complete denture.
Fixed Hybrid Denture
An implant supported fixed denture which replaces all the missing teeth in an arch. They usually have a metal framework or base which supports artificial acrylic teeth and gum tissue.
Fixed Prosthesis
Is a restoration which is not intended to be removed. If all the teeth are missing it is a fixed complete denture. If only some of the teeth are missing it is a fixed partial denture.
