Southern Implants
A brand of dental implants from South Africa that are designed for placement into molar sites. The are extra wide in order to fill the large molar extraction sockets and are shorter than traditionally sized implants to help avoid the sinus and nerves that are located apical to the molar tooth roots.
Splint/Splinting
An acrylic or metal bar used to hold two or more teeth together in order to stabilize them or to reduce their mobility. Splinting is the act of bonding acrylic or metal to adjacent teeth in order to stabilize them.
Stock Abutment
Also known as a direct or solid abutment: An abutment which is pre-made in various sizes and is used to support an implant crown.
