A term which denotes dead tissue.
Necrotic pulp/tooth
A tooth in which the pulp or nerve has died. These teeth require root canal treatment or endodontics in order to save teeth as healthy functional teeth.
Nerve(s)
Tissues in the body which care sensory information back and forth from the extremities to the brain and spinal cord. In dentistry also may mean the pulp inside the tooth or the inferior alveolar nerve which innervates the lower teeth, tongue, and lower lips.
Neuromuscular Dentistry
A dental philosophy which places great importance on the muscles of the head and neck which control the position and movement of the jaws.

A company which sells dental implants and related products. They joined Branemark implants and Steri-Oss implants which were two of the original implant brands available in the US.
Occlusal
The chewing surface of the teeth. The top surface of the teeth. Also used to denote direction towards the top of the tooth.
Occlusal Adjustment
The process of selective reshaping of the top surfaces of the teeth. This is done in order to improve how the teeth work and fit together, or to reduce the force or contact that a tooth is receiving from its counterpart in the opposing arch.
Occlusal Guard
Also known as a night guard or a bite guard. A removable appliance designed to minimize or eliminate the damaging effects of clenching and grinding or bruxism on the patient’s teeth and or implants.
Onlay
A partial crown or cap. It replaces some or all of the occlusal or chewing surface of the tooth.
