AKA Orthognathic surgery. A procedure done to reposition improperly aligned jaws so they fit together and function with each other properly. This is usually done after the teeth have been aligned orthodontically to get the jaws and teeth to work together properly. It may also be done to improve the facial profile for cosmetic reasons. It may also be needed to treat traumatic injuries to the face including broken jaws.
