The part of the tooth we see when we smile. It is the portion of the tooth above the gum line. It is made of a hard brittle shell of enamel which covers a softer tissue called dentin which covers and protects the inner pulp of the tooth. A false or prosthetic crown is also known cap and is an artificial cover that is place over the tooth to replace enamel which has been lost due to disease or trauma.
